At its July meeting the Vestry adopted a new mission statement for St. George’s, for use on the website, in grant proposals, etc.
St. George’s is dedicated to our mission of “loving god, serving others, and changing the world.”
We are a welcoming, inclusive Christ centered faith community committed to making a space for all. As an Episcopal Church, we seek to give fresh expression to our ancient liturgical tradition. We strive to help people; grow in their spiritual journeys with a broad variety of worship services from traditional to contemplative. We are passionately committed to feeding the hungry and working for social justice.
In more mundane business, the Vestry approved the expenditure of up to $1,900 to carpet the room previously used as the volunteer office before the renovations. It will be used for the Angel Choir practice and as an additional meeting space on the first floor.
New sources of revenue identified by the Alternatives Revenue Committee are beginning to bear fruit. Six of ten available parking spaces have been rented, bringing in $600 per month. Kinhaven Preschool will move into the upstairs classrooms on August 1, bringing in $25,000 in annual rental income. Grant opportunities are actively sought and Planned Giving will be incorporated into this year’s stewardship campaign. Additional sources of income are still needed to defray the budget deficit and ideas are invited.
The next Vestry Meeting will be September 20, after a hiatus in August.
