At its monthly meeting on June 21, the Vestry welcomed our summer seminarian Charles Cowherd and newly elected interim Treasurer George DiFilippi and Treasurer in Training Parks Gilbert. Elliot Branch remains on the Vestry but resigned as Treasurer due to heavy work responsibilities.
The Vestry approved resolutions authorizing bank signature authority for the individuals in the positions specified in our Financial Operating Procedures, $5,500 funding for VOICE as budgeted after hearing an update by Nina Janopaul, up to $3000 for rekeying the interior doors of the building in response to concerns by the fire marshall, and electing a slate of delegates to Diocesan Convention (formerly known as Council). The annual Diocesan meeting is moving from January to November so 2017 is a transitional year with two meetings. Our Delegates to the Diocese are now Allison Otto (senior) and Bradford Hardin (junior) with Missie Burman and Mike Giaquinto as their respective alternates. Each delegate serves for four years, progressing each year from junior alternate through senior delegate
Most of the time at the meeting was spent brainstorming ideas to include in an updated mission statement for St. George's which will be used as part of applications for grants under the new revenue sources initiative. The Vestry had no trouble coming up with ideas to describe our welcoming, inclusive, progressive, social justice oriented community and our rich spiritual and musical life together.
