At its November meeting the Vestry received the welcome news that a check for $565,000 will soon be arriving from the Episcopal Church Foundation as a result of a generous bequest to St. George’s in the estate of Lew Gulick. Lew’s expressed intent was that his gift be used for capital expenditures, in particular to fund a new organ. Thanks be to God!
In other business the Vestry discussed the proposed budget for 2018 with the prospect of continuing significant operating deficits and the diminishing availability of unrestricted Altar and Special Funds to finance a deficit for more than one or two more years, barring an unanticipated infusion of cash into the special funds. The Vestry has implemented several initiatives to enhance revenues and continues to explore ways to increase operating income, including enhanced Stewardship efforts as well as external sources
