Small Groups
20s and 30s
The 20s and 30s ministry is a gathering of Saint Georgians in (or near) that age group for fellowship, learning, and building community within the Saint George's family. All are welcome regardless of where you are in life or on your faith journey.
We gather monthly to discuss issues of faith, theology, and the Christian life with each other and our clergy. We also gather regularly for social activities and to support each other through our fellowship. We participate in the Shrine Mont parish retreat, help with parish events - such as Christmas caroling and the annual Blessing of Animals for the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi - and participate in occasional regional 20s and 30s events with our Arlington Episcopalian neighbors. We also meet during Lent and Advent for focused discussion of scripture or themes appropriate to the season, to increase our observance of these important times in the liturgical year.
20s and 30s are also active in all aspects of life at St. George's. Our members are youth group leaders, Sunday school teachers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors, committee members, vestry members, ministry coordinators, coffee hour hosts . . . the list goes on and on.
Men’s Group
Saint George’s Men’s Group meets on the first Saturday of every month from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. After a brief time of gathering and a light breakfast, a facilitated discussion of the topic for the month is conducted. The range of topics is quite varied, ranging from spiritual/religious to current events. The purpose of the discussion is to explore how the members of the group, as Christian men, live out their faith in the 21st century. Attendance is typically from 10 to 16, with men ranging in age from 20’s to 80’s. During the pandemic, the group has been meeting twice a month virtually via Zoom. Meetings are announced in advance via Dragon Bytes. Contact Co-leaders John Churchman and Robbie Williams for more information!
LGBTQ+ Affinity Group
Saint George’s LGBTQ+ affinity group connects regularly for fellowship and provides a safe, affirming space to discuss common issues, concerns, theological matters, and current events. It also plans Saint George’s participation in the DC Pride Festival and Pride Month, while inviting all Saint Georgians into the work and fun of these events.
House Churches
House churches are small groups that meet to share joys and challenges, pray, and reflect on Scripture. They meet at various times of day throughout the week and are attended by a diversity of people. There is room for you!
Parents of Little Ones (POLO)
POLO is a group at St. George's for families with children ages 0-5. We host play dates, potlucks, and other adventures about once a month, giving parents and other caregivers an opportunity to connect outside the structure of Sunday morning.
