A Return to Singing!
Hallelujah! Sing to the Lord a new song;
Sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful. – Psalm 149:1
We rejoice in the good news that beginning on Sunday we can return to congregational singing (masked) in all of our worship services – 8 am, 9:15 am, and 10:30 am. What a wonderful thing! Important research completed this past year by the University of Colorado and University of Maryland found that we can sing together in a manner that is very safe by following a few simple mitigations such as wearing a mask. I have missed hearing you sing and look forward to Sunday when once again our voices will raised together in song. So, do sing out and rejoice! There will be good hymns. Afterall, we have to make up for lost time.
Praise him with timbrel and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe. – Psalm 150:4
We also rejoice that our congregational song will soon be accompanied by a new instrument of praise. Our new organ is on track to be completed later this summer and is confirmed for delivery the first week of October. At this time, we will all have the opportunity to help bring the thousands of pipes and other parts of the organ into the Nave. Martin Pasi and his crew will then spend the next few weeks installing the organ. Following installation, Martin will be with us for the next few months as he voices each individual pipe in the organ. Gradually the organ will come to life and by Christmas Eve we should be able to hear it in its full glory and splendor. Christmas Eve is fitting time for this milestone in our parish’s history given that both the first worship service held in the Nave (1952) and the first worship service following our 2016 nave renovation happened on Christmas Eve.
New progress photos from Martin’s shop have been posted on our website, where you can also donate to the project, which included nave lighting upgrades and the restoration of our two largest stained glass windows. www.saintgeorgeschurch.org/organ
Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord. Hallelujah! – Psalm 150:6
