Lifelong Learning
Dear Friends,
I am very excited about all of the things that God is doing at Saint George's this fall through all of our committed lay leaders. It was wonderful to welcome back all of the children and their parents as Sunday school began last Sunday. It was also a blessing to be with everyone at the parish picnic and to have our children playing on the lawn safely within our lovely new fence.
Learning what it means to follow Jesus happens in so many different ways in our church experience. The main way that we are formed as Christians is through worship. It also happens through education. Sunday school is very important for children, but it is also important for adults. We are all called to be lifelong learners. Our adult forum schedule this fall is really diverse and interesting, everything from "Womanist Midrash" to "The Logic of the Lectionary". I hope you will look at the full schedule and plan to be a part of these wonderful offerings.
I look forward to being with all of you this Sunday as we "hold fast to those things that shall endure" and leave you with our Collect of the Day.
Grant us, O Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Yours in Christ,
Shearon+
