The Joy of Jesus
Dear Friends,
There is a whole lot of happy dancing going on today! The Nats’ victory last night was absolutely incredible and it is so wonderful to see everyone coming together in celebration. We tried to figure out a way to get our cardboard cut-out of Presiding Bishop Curry to do a happy dance but the most we could manage was to give him a World Series Championship cap.
And speaking of joy, this Sunday is going to be wonderful! It’s All Saints Sunday, the day when we celebrate the circle of life. In the morning, we’ll be blessed to have one baptism at the 8:00 service and five at the 10:30 service. During the 4:00 Evensong, we’ll read the names of those who have died in the past year and light candles in remembrance and thanksgiving for their lives. I look forward to coming together with Jesus, the Lord of the Dance, and with all the saints, past, present and future, as we experience the joy of eternal life now.
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Yours in Jesus joy,
Shearon+
