Ministry Architects Report

Dear Friends,

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the visioning sessions last week-end.  A total of 91 people were part of the experience.  There were also many who attended the vestry meeting on Wednesday night to hear the recommendations for developing our children youth ministry. Our consultants from Ministry Architects were very impressed with the vitality and level of engagement of our congregation.  Please click here for the full report.

We have a team of four dedicated children and youth leaders who will work with Ministry Architects to take our children and youth ministry from strength to strength over the next 18 months.  I am very grateful to Tracy Yeager, Mandy Walter, Liza Lowe and Preston Findlay for their passion for  this ministry.

One of the recommendations of the assessment was to have a staff person who spends 20 hours per week leading our children and youth ministry.  We are preparing to search for a new Assistant Rector who will work with our children and youth leaders to do this important work.  A search committee is being formed to work with me on this.  The new Assistant Rector will also be responsible for working with our social justice ministry.  These two areas of responsibility will dovetail nicely since social justice is so important to us and one of the ways that was suggested for developing our ministry with youth.

This Sunday our guest preacher is the Rt. Rev. Porter Taylor, the new Assisting Bishop for the Diocese of Virginia.  Bishop Taylor lives in Arlington and we are thankful to have him joining us.

Yours in Christ,
Shearon+
