A Sunday full of Connection
Dear Friends,
It was a great blessing to be able to have an outdoor, in-person service last Sunday at 10:30 on our front lawn. We had about 30 people who had signed up in advance and it was so great to be with everyone, masked and distanced. We will continue to have these services during October, weather permitting.
It is also wonderful to know that we have hundreds of people continuing to worship with us on-line, long-time members as well as people who have connected with us since “Coronatide” began seven months ago. I really appreciate seeing so many Saint Georgians leading different parts of the service each Sunday. It gives us a great sense of the connection and diversity of our community. I am so very grateful to Dr. Ben Keseley for his masterful work creating our worship videos and to Elena Keydel for her superb worship participant coordination.
This Sunday, we will have our annual Blessing of the Pets at 4 p.m. on the front lawn. It will begin with a 15 minute creation themed liturgy, followed by individual pet blessings. Please make sure to wear your masks. We will also have extra masks for anyone who may forget. We will also include prayers for pets whose humans need to stay at home. The Blessing of the Pets on the Feast of Saint Francis (transferred) reminds us that all of life is a gift, and that one of the greatest gifts is the relationships we have with our animal friends. Many thanks to Allison Otto, Worship Committee Chair, for her excellent coordination of both the Sunday morning in-person service and the afternoon pet blessing.
I look forward to all of these opportunities for connection with God and with each other this Sunday, both on-line and in-person!
Yours in Christ,
Shearon+
