The Transfiguration
Dear Friends,
This Sunday is the Last Sunday after the Epiphany. Every year on this Sunday, we hear the story of Jesus’ transfiguration when he ascends a mountain with his closest disciples and they have a mystical experience where Jesus’ divine nature is revealed to them. The transfiguration is often understood as a foretaste of the Resurrection.
We have a wonderful depiction of this biblical story in our largest stained glass window. It is located over the main doors of our nave. The Transfiguration window is incredibly beautiful and I always appreciate looking at it while I am celebrating the Eucharist with you. I am especially aware of how it reinforces the words we say together during the Eucharistic Prayer, “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.”
The memory of being with you and looking at the window as a focal point for prayer is one of the ways that God is helping me remain hopeful during this time of being physically apart. It keeps me centered on God’s provision now and reminds me that we will be together again in person one day celebrating the Eucharist.
The Transfiguration window is being repaired as part of our most recent nave renovation/organ project. It was removed several months ago and sent to Bovard Studio in Iowa. It is scheduled to be reinstalled in early March. This will be a great blessing. It will also be a foretaste of the installation of our new organ in late April. That will be the culmination of the vision we had when we began our initial 2016 renovation.

We have so much to look forward to as we come together on-line this Sunday to reflect on the Transfiguration story and we have so much to look forward to in the coming months!
Yours in Christ,
Shearon+
