The Glory of God's Love

Dear Friends,

I hope you are doing well on this beautiful day. The bright sunshine and the wild wind remind me of the majesty of God and the fierceness of God’s love for each of us. Our psalm for this Sunday really captures that idea.

The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the firmament shows his handiwork.

Psalm 19:1

It feels especially important to stay connected to the created order right now and to give thanks to God for its splendor. Being outside each day, even for a few minutes, breathing in God’s goodness, can really give us perspective on our current experience.

We have entered a new phase of Covid time when vaccines are in progress, yet some people have them and some people are waiting. Masks and distancing are still needed, yet things are getting somewhat safer and we are all doing risk assessments about our activities. Children in public schools have the opportunity to go back to school in-person and some parents are choosing to send them back and others are remaining virtual.

It's a hopeful time and yet a strange time. It's a time to be gentle with ourselves and with each other. It's a time to take time each day to stay grounded in gratitude and hopefulness. It's a time to remember that God is with us as we go through yet another time of transition, knowing as Julian of Norwich knew, that “all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.”

Yours in Christ,

Shearon+
